World Diabetes Day Celebrations
World Diabetes Day is the world's largest diabetes awareness campaign. Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev and his team have been organizing WDD events for more than two decades (since 2000) at various parts of Kerala. The programs included walks, television programs, radio talks, quiz programs, huge processions, exhibitions, free camps and interactive awareness lectures during pre-Covid era and patient education webinars, live interactive sessions via social media etc along with television, radio programs during the Covid times. Dear Friends,
World Diabetes Day (WDD) was created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation
and the World Health Organization in response to growing concerns about the escalating
health threat posed by diabetes. Every year, the WDD campaign focuses on a dedicated
theme. The focus of the campaign in 2024 is "Diabetes and Well-Being".
Dr.Jothydev started World Diabetes Day activities in Kerala way back in 1999. Though it was initiated 24 years ago, Jothydev and his team are still active and creative in disseminating educational and motivational messages through multiple platforms. The campaign has been widely popular now both locally and the world over. With this year’s theme, we are planning to conduct educational events for the public, and treatment camps for patients to promote the importance of taking coordinated and concerted actions to confront diabetes as a critical global health issue.
